Dr. Daryl G. Smith is Senior Research Fellow and Professor Emerita of Education and Psychology at Claremont Graduate University. Among other published work, she is an author or co-author of Diversity’s Promise for Higher Education: Making it Work (3rd edition), Diversity in Higher Education: Emerging Cross-national Perspectives on Institutional Transformation, Building Institutional Capacity for Diversity and Inclusion in Academic Medicine, Achieving Faculty Diversity: Debunking The Myths, Interrupting The Usual: Successful Strategies for Hiring Diverse Faculty, Organizational Learning a Tool for Diversity and Institutional Effectiveness. Prior to becoming a faculty member, she also served as a college administrator in planning, evaluation, student affairs. She has served as an evaluator and consultant to numerous professional organizations and campuses across the country and to foundations such as the James Irvine Foundation, the Haas Jr. Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Pew Charitable Trusts, and The Hewlett Foundation. Smith was a Fulbright Senior Specialist in South Africa in 2010 and 2012.

Patricia K. Bradley, PhD, RN, FAAN

Dr. Patricia K. Bradley is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence at the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing (FCN) at Villanova University. She earned her BSN from Temple University, and her MSN and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and is a leading expert in psychiatric mental health nursing. Dr. Bradley’s current work focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering cultural humility in students and healthcare providers, and eliminating health inequities. Her research and service activities represent her commitment and contribution to ensuring a “voice for the voiceless” and to developing a culture of trust with vulnerable populations who lack access to address their concerns. Dr. Bradley is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and serves as Chair of the Academy’s Cultural Competence & Health Equity Expert Panel. She is a member of the AACN’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Leadership Network (DEILN) and a member of the Diversity Tool Kit Workgroup. In addition to being the FCN’s Chief Diversity Officer, she is co-chair for the college’s Inclusive Excellence Strategic Planning Workgroup.

Since 2016 Jack Morris has worked in the area of international student recruitment for University College Dublin. Beginning in New York City, Jack mainly focused on full-degree recruitment. Upon returning to Ireland, he began specializing on the area of Study Abroad, where he has worked since 2017.

Beginning in the summer of 2019 Jack moved to become the International Program Manager in the UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems. His responsibilities include recruitment and administration for both semester program and popular Health Sciences Summer School, which runs every June.

Edna Carroll, BSoc, SC, MBSN

Enda Carroll is the Associate Director, Study Abroad & North America at UCD Global and heads the North America division of the office. She provides broad strategic leadership for North America, in addition to leading a team based in Dublin and the U.S. who are dedicated to the support and recruitment of students from the region. Her position involves working collaboratively with UCD’s Schools and Colleges in the areas of academic program development and the management of relationships with UCD’s key partners in North America. In 2011, she established UCD's first North America Global Centre in New York City. She has over twenty years of experience in international education and is an active contributor to study abroad strategy, initiatives, and committees in Ireland at the national sector level. She is the chair of The Forum on Education Abroad board and the first to be based at a member institution outside the United States. She is currently a Master’s graduate student of the Smurfit School of Business and holds a bachelor’s degree in social science from UCD.

Suzanne Shorten

Suzanne Shorten is the Program Director of Summer at UCD and overseas all aspects of inbound Study Tours to Dublin’s premier university. She is one of the first faces students meet as they arrive at UCD, and is the primary escalation contact for any emergencies or special needs that students may experience. She leads a dedicated and committed team who are all former students at UCD and are perfectly placed to introduce our guests to everything the college has to offer – whether academically, culturally, or socially.

Suzanne travels extensively throughout the U.S. during the year, forging close personal relationships with American colleges and getting to know their real needs in terms of creating an overseas experience for their students that will affect them for a lifetime. She is also a regular blogger and commentator on issues relating to Study Tours.

Martin McNamara, EdD, MA, MEd, BA, RN, FAAN

Dr. McNamara is Professor, Associate Dean for Global Engagement, and Program Director for Graduate Program in Leadership, Innovation and Management for Healthcare, and in Health Professions Education at the UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems. He has been a member of faculty since 2000 and served two terms as Dean and Head of School from 2010-2016. He is a Registered Mental Health, General Nurse and Nurse Tutor. He completed his doctorate in 2007 with a sociological investigation into the underlying principles structuring academic nursing in Ireland.

Dr. McNamara’s research interests include the evolution of nursing education in higher education, clinical leadership and the factors enabling and constraining the development of advanced practice nursing roles. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) degree by the University of Connecticut in May 2014 and was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in October 2015. He was also made a Fellow of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in December 2016 and gained an Executive Certificate in Public Leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in October 2018.

Dr. Serafica earned his undergraduate and graduate studies in nursing from Gardner-Webb University and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Nevada, Reno. He is also a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He earned his Ph.D. in Nursing (Research and Education) from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Rei is also a Certified Nurse Educator and teaches in the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses in UNLV School of Nursing.

He has contributed to science by publishing peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at national and international conferences. He also implemented a viable and relevant research agenda that involves an interdisciplinary approach and mentorship for graduate students.

Dr. Serafica serves as an associate editor to the Journal of Transcultural Nursing, and he is currently the President of the Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA) of Nevada. In addition, he is the current Community Engagement Outreach Site Director for the Clinical and Translational Research Infrastructure Network in UNLV.

Beth Lincoln is an educator/consultant, certified transcultural nurse, women and family nurse practitioner and author of Reflections from Common Ground: Cultural Awareness in Healthcare (2015) and Further Reflections from Common Ground (2017). She provides consulting services and motivational seminars for healthcare professionals and organizations seeking to provide culturally sensitive and competent healthcare. Ms. Lincoln is a certified transcultural nurse through the Transcultural Nursing Society and has served as President of the Board of Trustees. As a nurse practitioner Miss Lincoln provides clinical healthcare and professional education for a diverse population. She is adjunct faculty at Pacific Union College in Angwin where she teaches Transcultural Nursing and Global Health. Ms. Lincoln presents extensively, sharing her broad understanding of cultural competence in the healthcare and the academic setting. Heather Mernitz has a BA in Chemistry from Kalamazoo College (MI), and an MS and PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism from Tufts University (MA). Heather is a Professor of Physical Science at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she teaches courses in chemistry, biochemistry, and quantitative literacy. Heather is the Chair of the Council for Student Assessment at Alverno and serves as a consultant on principles and practices of ability-based education and assessment. Heather is experienced in the design and implementation of an all-college external assessment and has led numerous workshops for college faculty on the design and use of active, collaborative, contextual curriculum for undergraduate chemistry majors. Currently, she is focused on building efficient tools and systems to support faculty-driven program assessment.

Amy Matthews, DNP, MS, RN, CENP

Amy Matthews serves as chief nursing officer and vice president of Patient Care Services at Cheshire Medical Center (Cheshire), a not-for-profit community medical center located in Keene, NH. She provides strategic organizational leadership and implements operational goals, financial plans, and community initiatives at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health (D-HH) affiliate.

Dr. Matthews partners with other chief officers and senior leaders in the D-HH system to support the organization's mission. She provides executive leadership for patient care services while finding new ways to improve the patient experience. She serves as a guide to excellence in practice grounded in science but characterized by compassion, respect, and the best possible outcomes for patients, the community, and others.

She has been in the field of nursing since 1985 in health care settings across the country. Matthews relocated to the Monadnock Region in 2000, continuing her career at Cheshire as an emergency department nurse and assuming progressive leadership roles. She is a member the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), completing both manager and executive fellowships with AONL. A lifelong learner, she earned an Executive Doctor of Nursing Practice from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn., in 2019. Matthews was honored by the Keene Sentinel as one of ten "Extraordinary Women of 2020."

Michael R. Bleich, PhD, RN, FNAP, FAAN

Dr. Michael Bleich is a Wisconsin native who has held clinical, consultative, service, academic, and association leadership positions. A recognized scholar and thought leader, Dr. Bleich was one of the five nurses on the committee that wrote the seminal report, The Future of Nursing, Leading Change, Advancing Health issued through the Institute of Medicine; Wisdom at Work: the Importance of the Older and Experienced Nurse in the Workplace published through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Men in Nursing: Understanding the Challenges Men Face in this Predominantly Female Profession; and Analysis of the Nursing Workforce Crisis: a Call to Action, both published in the American Journal of Nursing.

Dr. Bleich earned a diploma, BSN, MPH, and PhD from midwestern schools. An inductee of the American Academy of Nursing and the National Academies of Practice. He currently is President and CEO of NursDynamics, LLC and directs the Langston Center for Innovation in Quality and Safety at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing.

Tami Taylor is a Chief Nursing Officer who works with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center in Central Texas and provides executive nurse leadership to plan for nursing and strategically guide patient care. Tami has 30 years of nursing experience and is a self-motivated, innovative, energetic, and quality-focused healthcare leader with progressive clinical, administrative, and senior leadership experience in complex healthcare organizations. Tami is a board-certified nurse executive; Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certified (NEA-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Tami holds an MSN degree in nurse executive practice from Research College of Nursing, an MBA from Grand Canyon University. She will graduate in December 2021 with a DNP in executive nurse leadership from Baylor University.

Dr. Launette Woolforde is Chief Nursing Officer for Lenox Hill Hospital and the Manhattan region of Northwell Health, the largest healthcare provider in NY State. Launette co-authored the national Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing Professional Development and served on the Board at the National League for Nursing and the Association for Nursing Professional Development. Launette earned numerous degrees including a DNP from Case Western Reserve University and a Doctor of Education from Columbia University, Teachers College. She is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and of the esteemed American Academy of Nursing.

Tener Goodwin Veenema, PhD, MPH, MS, is a Contributing Scholar and Professor of Nursing at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. At the Center, she leads research projects to explore health systems optimization and healthcare worker protection during disasters and large-scale public health emergency events. She is editor of Disaster Nursing and Emergency Preparedness for Chemical, Biological and Radiological Terrorism and Other Hazards, 4th Ed., the leading textbook in the field and developer of Disaster Nursing, a digital technology “App”. She is also an Associate Editor of the peer-reviewed journal Health Security. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Veenema is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, and is an elected Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, the National Academies of Practice, and the Royal College of Surgeons, Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery, Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Veenema was awarded the Florence Nightingale Medal of Honor (International Red Crescent) the highest international award in Nursing for her professional service in disasters and public health emergencies. She served as the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) 2017-18 Distinguished Nurse Scholar-in-Residence, and was awarded a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award and a lifetime achievement award from Columbia University School of Nursing.

Cynda Hylton Rushton is the Anne and George L. Bunting Professor of Clinical Ethics at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics and School of Nursing, and co-chairs Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Ethics Committee and Consultation Service. In 2016, she co-led a national collaborative State of the Science Initiative: Transforming Moral Distress into Moral Resilience in Nursing and co-chaired the American Nurses Association professional issues panel that created A Call to Action: Exploring Moral Resilience Toward a Culture of Ethical Practice. She was a member of the National Academies of Medicine, Science and Engineering Committee that produced the report Taking Action Against Clinician Burnout: A Systems Approach to Professional Well-being. She is a member of the American Nurses Association Center for Ethics & Human Rights Ethics Advisory Board and American Nurses Foundation Well-Being Initiative Advisory Board. She is the editor and author of Moral Resilience: Transforming Moral Suffering in Healthcare. Dr. Rushton is a Hastings Center fellow and chair of the Hastings Center Fellows Council and a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Carla Sanderson has forty years of leadership experience with global reach and impact in higher education and healthcare through academic leadership and board membership. Linda M. Hollinger-Smith, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANEF

Dr. Linda Hollinger-Smith is the Associate Provost, Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Accreditation, and Research at Chamberlain University. Prior to joining Chamberlain, Dr. Hollinger-Smith led Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging as Vice President focused on improving the quality of gerontological nursing care through applied research programs. Other past positions included Assistant Dean at Rush University College of Nursing; Director of Nursing at the Rush Primary Care Institute; and Associate Chairperson of Adult Health Nursing, Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Hollinger-Smith has served as principal investigator on numerous public and privately funded studies totaling more than $8 million to support nursing workforce and faculty development efforts. She has published numerous articles and has presented her research nationally on topics including nursing workforce development, trends in senior living, long-term care workforce culture, family caregiving, gerontological nursing, and faculty development. She is a fellow of both the American Academy of Nursing and the Academy of Nursing Education.

Kenya V. Beard is the Associate Provost for Social Mission and Academic Excellence at Chamberlain University. As a 2012 Macy Faculty Scholar, she focused on increasing workforce diversity and strengthening educational equity. Dr. Beard has consulted with numerous schools across the country on ways to strengthen diversity. She led the New York State Action Coalition in constructing the state’s 2014 Workforce Diversity Toolkit and contributed to the National League for Nursing’s 2016 Diversity Vision Statement. She co-created the Josiah Macy Foundation’s 2018 ground-breaking document, Improving the Environment for Learning in the Health Professions and more recently, co-authored the publication, Racism and the Diversity Policy Paradox: Implications for Nurse Leaders to help strengthen diversity in higher education.

Karen Cox, PhD, RN, FACHE, FAAN

Dr. Karen Cox is the President of Chamberlain University since 2018. She is responsible for managing all undergraduate and graduate programs, which includes over 20 campuses in 15 states, as well as online programs. Prior to joining Chamberlain, Dr. Cox served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Children’s Mercy – Kansas City, an independent, academic medical center. Dr. Cox led the organization to receive Magnet designation by The American Nurses Credentialing Center, becoming the first hospital in Missouri, and the region, in 2003 to receive such recognition when she was Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. Dr. Cox was named a Fellow in the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellowship Program (1999-2002) and was appointed to a term on the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice, U.S. Health and Human Services (2006-2011).

Dr. Patty Wilson is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHSON). In her faculty role, she serves as a clinical coordinator for pre-licensure nursing students during their psychiatric clinical rotation. She also teaches in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner post masters’ certificate program. Dr. Wilson is part of the JHSON Center for Community Innovation and Scholarship, where she is the site supervisor for doctoral nursing students working as community health nurses at the House of Ruth Maryland, a shelter for families escaping intimate partner violence. Dr. Wilson is a co-principal investigator of the Passport to Freedom program which provides psycho-educational sessions for women to promote self-awareness of the link between trauma and health and offers strategies to cope with symptoms of trauma/stress.

Dr. Wilson completed her Doctoral and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) studies at the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Her dissertation focused on the relationship between housing instability, race/ethnicity, depressive symptoms, and increased exposure to IPV among mothers. Dr. Wilson works as PMHNP at Families First Counseling and Psychiatric, a Baltimore City Community based behavioral health clinic.

Tami practiced as a small animal Veterinarian for 12 years before transitioning to nursing, where her clinical background in nursing focused on the adult population in open-heart surgical recovery. Since 2003 Tami has served as Nurse Educator and Curriculum Manager at the Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral levels. Currently, she manages quality assurance and course development for the School of Nursing Curriculum Team. Dr. Rogers holds a specialty certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and has presented findings from research and evidence-based interventions at local and national conferences, including Sigma Theta Tau Annual Research Day, National League for Nursing Summit, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing BSN and MSN Conferences. Her current research interests include perceived self-efficacy for information literacy among faculty and students and use of embedded information literacy activities in nursing education, alignment of ACRL nursing information literacy competency standards to EBP competencies at undergraduate and graduate levels, meaningful evaluation strategies and feedback for the DNP specialty clinical practice experience, and cognitive and emotional impacts of graduate competency-based education.

Dr. Becky Costello has been designing online learning for adults for over ten years. Her research area of interest is the impact of online faculty training on learning communities. In her current role, she designs professional learning opportunities for teachers and other certified staff at a large, urban public school district in Northern Illinois. She takes great pride in the collaborative relationships she builds with stakeholders in the instructional design process. Though she is not a nurse, she is invested in understanding the regulatory challenges, student and faculty experience, and other key aspects of online nursing course and program quality.
